Who may use MatGold

Reading the records requires an account. Only this page, the Privacy Policy, the pages describing MatGold, and the sign-in and registration screens are open without one.

You must be at least 13 to register. One account per person. Keep your password to yourself, and tell us at legal@matgold.com if you think someone else has used your account. You are responsible for what happens under it.

The records are incomplete, and not official

This is the most important clause on this page. MatGold is an independent archive built from published results, brackets, record books, scans and school archives spanning more than a century. It is incomplete and it contains errors. Names may appear as they were printed rather than as they were spelled. A missing score, placement or total means we do not have it, not that it was zero.

MatGold is not an official record of any governing body, conference, school or competition, and none of them endorse it. Do not rely on it for eligibility, recruiting, awards, wagering or anything else that needs an authoritative source.

The records name the athletes who competed, as published sources do. If something about you is wrong, submit a correction. If you are the athlete named, or the parent of a minor who is, and you want an entry reviewed for removal, write to legal@matgold.com. A result is a historical fact and we cannot promise to remove it, but we read every request, answer it, and act where it is well founded.

What you post stays yours

You own what you submit: usernames, league and team names, league messages and corrections. You give us a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free licence to store, display and distribute it to run MatGold. The licence ends when you delete the content, except for routine backups and for corrections.

Corrections are different, on purpose. Once we accept a correction, the corrected fact becomes a permanent part of the database, even after your account is closed. An archive cannot lose the right to publish its own records. Only submit content you have the right to submit.

Acceptable use

Do not use MatGold to:

• Harass, threaten, defame or impersonate anyone.
• Post unlawful content or content that infringes someone else’s rights.
• Submit deliberately false records or corrections.
• Scrape, crawl or bulk-extract the database, or hit the site at a rate that burdens it.
• Probe for vulnerabilities or access another user’s account.
• Resell or redistribute the database.

Quoting a result, citing a career or linking to a page for personal, educational or journalistic use is welcome. This clause is about wholesale copying.

What belongs to us, and what does not

The MatGold name, logo, designs, written content, rating systems and the selection and arrangement of the database are ours. Individual results are facts, and facts belong to nobody.

Team, school, conference and governing-body names and logos are the trademarks of their owners and appear only to identify whose results are shown. MatGold is not affiliated with or endorsed by the NCAA, NWCA, United World Wrestling, Real American Freestyle, any conference, or any school. If you own a mark shown here and want it removed, write to legal@matgold.com.

Copyright complaints

Send copyright notices to legal@matgold.com or [MAILING ADDRESS]. Include the work, the material and where it is on the site, your contact details, a good-faith statement that the use is not authorised, a statement under penalty of perjury that the notice is accurate and you are authorised to act, and your signature. We remove infringing material and close the accounts of repeat infringers.

Fantasy and games

The games are free, for entertainment only, and are not gambling: no entry fee, no prizes of monetary value. Scoring is derived from the records and inherits every limitation in the records clause. Commissioners run their own leagues. We may remove a league, name or message that breaches these terms.

Changes, availability and ending your account

We may change, suspend or discontinue any part of MatGold at any time, and we do not promise uninterrupted service. We may update these terms; for material changes we will post notice on the site and update the effective date above. Continuing to use the site after a change means accepting it.

You can delete your account any time from your settings or by writing to legal@matgold.com. We may suspend or close an account that breaches these terms. The wrestling records are not user content and are unaffected.

Disclaimer and limitation of liability

MATGOLDIS PROVIDED “AS IS” AND “AS AVAILABLE”, WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, TITLE, NON-INFRINGEMENT, AND ANY WARRANTY AS TO THE ACCURACY, COMPLETENESS OR RELIABILITY OF THE RECORDS.

TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, MatGold LLC WILL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR ANY LOSS OF PROFITS, DATA, GOODWILL OR OPPORTUNITY, ARISING OUT OF YOUR USE OF OR RELIANCE ON MATGOLD. OUR TOTAL LIABILITY FOR ANY CLAIM WILL NOT EXCEED ONE HUNDRED U.S. DOLLARS ($100) OR THE AMOUNT YOU PAID US IN THE PRECEDING TWELVE MONTHS, WHICHEVER IS GREATER.

Where the law does not allow these limits, they apply as far as it does. You agree to indemnify MatGold LLC against claims and reasonable legal costs arising from content you submit, your use of MatGold, or your breach of these terms.

Governing law and everything else

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Texas. Disputes go to the state or federal courts in Texas, and both of us consent to their jurisdiction. Before filing anything, write to legal@matgold.com; almost everything is resolved faster by email.

If a provision is unenforceable, the rest stands. Not enforcing a provision is not a waiver of it. You may not assign this agreement; we may assign it to a successor. These terms and the Privacy Policy are the entire agreement between you and us.
